Summary

  • As a Competence Architect Data you define and drive a vision and embed it within Jumbos data landscape. You ensure that our data architecture is scalable reliable cost-efficient and future-proof while enabling teams across the organization to make better use of data. You dont just design architectureyou also help Jumbo make the right decisions by connecting business needs with technical solutions and guiding teams toward maximum value.
  • You help Jumbo make the best decisions and extract maximum value from data. By building a strong and accessible data foundation you enable colleagues to make better decisions improve customer experiences and continuously innovate. Your work ensures that data is reliable secure and accessible allowing us to keep surprising our customers every day.
  • You are part of Jumbos Architecture family and work closely with fellow competence architects domain architects product management and engineering managers.
  • You collaborate with stakeholders across the entire organization including business teams IT teams and management. You work closely with domain architects product managers and engineering teams and coordinate with multiple teams to ensure alignment across the data landscape. You bring major topics to the Tech Management Team (Tech-MT) and know when escalation or additional management attention is required.

Job description

In this role you focus on strengthening and future-proofing Jumbos data landscape addressing both todays priorities and tomorrows opportunities. A key part of your work is increasing the resilience of our data ecosystem. You enable data producers to continuously improve and evolve their models and become resilient to future requests while ensuring that these changes do not negatively impact the outcome driven commitments of the teams. You maintain the balance between technical and functional objectives with a clear path towards a shared vision.

At the same time you safeguard the quality and reliability of data. After all meaningful insights can only be derived from data that is trustworthy consistent and unambiguous. You also take responsibility for ensuring that data is as secure as possible and managed in a cost-efficient way for example by reducing unnecessary duplication and optimizing the overall data footprint.

You create the conditions for teams to grow and thrive. By setting clear boundaries together with your peers and leadership and by driving standardization where it adds value you help teams focus on what truly matters. You actively reduce repetitive and mundane work enabling teams to dedicate their time to innovation and impact. You facilitate freedom within a framework where you guide the process bottom-up as well as top-down.

Looking ahead you play an important role in evolving the data landscape to support new capabilities such as Agentic AI. At the same time you strengthen governance by bringing ownership back to data producers ensuring clear accountability across the organization.

You guide architectural decision-making together with the broader tech community helping to create alignment and clarity in a complex addition you proactively identify and propose new strategic opportunities that move Jumbo forward whether that means introducing new ways of working exploring new technologies or simplifying the current landscape to create more room for innovation.

Profile

  • Strong knowledge of data architecture and data management
  • Broad understanding of IT landscapes within complex environments
  • Proven experience in defining and implementing data strategies
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Proven track record in developing technological strategy combined with creating new and innovative business value
  • Ability to influence others and guide them in the right direction through informal leadership
  • Strategic thinker with strong prioritization skills able to translate long-term goals into concrete and valuable short-term actions
  • Comfortable working in large complex and international environments
  • Ability to work with both legacy and modern data platforms with an eye for opportunities to gradually phase out legacy systems
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
