Your impact

Mollie is building its next strategic frontier turning our unique data assets into an intelligence offering that transforms us from a financial toolkit into an indispensable growth partner for our merchants. As an Application Engineer II on the Data Intelligence Products team youll be at the centre of that mission: productising Mollies data to deliver cross-domain customer-facing capabilities from actionable business insights and performance benchmarking to payment optimisation and adaptive fraud protection.

This is a high-ownership entrepreneurial role in a small fast-paced team operating in a true zero to one environment. Your work will be highly visible to senior leadership and will directly shape how Mollie wins and retains upmarket merchants. Youll have the freedom to take ideas from concept to production quickly building the foundational platform and launching features that span the full breadth of Mollies product surface giving merchants the enterprise-grade analytics monitoring and optimisation tools they need to drive conversion protect revenue and grow with confidence.

What youll ship

• Transform internal data into customer-facing products shifting focus from internal operations to merchant-facing utilities that drive real business outcomes

• Build and launch features within Mollies Insights product and expand into payment conversion optimisation applying data-intensive engineering to core payment systems

• Design and deliver reliable performant architectures capable of operating at high scale and high transaction intensity

• Contribute to the foundational platform that powers Mollies data intelligence offering across fraud protection benchmarking and analytics

• Collaborate with engineers product managers and senior leadership to shape the product as you build it from idea through to production
  

What youll bring

• 5 years of experience developing large-scale backend applications with strong proficiency in Java (primary requirement); experience with PHP Go C# or Python is also valued

• Proven experience designing systems that handle queuing caching concurrency fault tolerance and scalability in high-volume high-intensity environments

• Experience working with data-intensive systems ML infrastructure or analytics platforms you dont need to build models but you understand data and how to engineer around it

• A product-first mindset you think in terms of merchant outcomes like conversion revenue and protection not just technical elegance

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering product and business stakeholders in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
