Moog B.V. in Nieuw-Vennep is an engineering-focused company with dynamic growth passionate about offering high-tech simulation and test technologies for global aircraft automotive and motion control application markets. Our main products within the Business Unit Simulation & Test in Nieuw-Vennep are the Motion Systems for creating the illusion of actual flight/drive Control Loading Systems providing advanced force feedback on the pilots controls inside a simulator and Aerospace & Automotive Test Systems for material structural and system testing. We serve a wide variety of customers including global OEMs such as Airbus Boeing BMW Ford etc.

Application Engineer Simulation Market Segment
The function:
As part of a larger Engineering Group the Application Engineer is responsible for a variety of Flight -and other type of Simulator Applications. Being the primary interface between the Engineering team and the customer this is a very dynamic and exciting position. Not only will it take you to our customers across Europe and further but it will also allow you to work on some of the most intriguing and high-tech (Flight) Simulator Systems. The Application Engineer is primarily responsible for assessment of setting up tuning and troubleshooting various types of Flight Simulators. These can be new systems as well as addition the Application Engineer supports our Production Department with in-house testing and takes the lead in the execution of FATs and SATs. The Application Engineer is also responsible for understanding the customers requirements and providing our customers with the advice and best practices. Further the Application Engineer understands our customers future needs and translates them into a proposal for future product development by our Systems Engineers.
As the Application Engineer is our main technical point of contact for our customers he/she is expected to travel frequently to set up and test our systems at the customers facility. The mechanical assessment and verification of the systems is also a significant part of it. This provides the possibility to travel to unique places at customer sites throughout Europe and beyond.
Role and responsibilities:
Performs hands-on assessment of the mechanical hardware tuning and testing of Moogs systems both in the factory and on site at the customer.
Understands customers requirements and specifications and uses these as a bases for the customization and configuration of hardware and software.
(Fine) tunes control systems for optimal performance.
Takes responsibility of a project or programs full scope and makes sure the customers need is met.
Responsible for in-house engineering work as part of (upgrade) projects.
Has extensive knowledge of customer applications which include flight simulators driving simulators and control cabinets.
Uses his/her knowledge field experience and inputs / challenges from customer applications to initiate new product developments.
Actively presents him/her-self as the business card of our product and company at customer sites.
Supports sales in creating scope and work breakdown structures for quotation.
Supports customers and colleagues in raising their knowledge by means of training.
Gives training to customers and colleagues.
Likes to travel: the systems are installed all over the world at various customer sites and Moog facilities so travelling up to 40% of total working time is possible. End-users sometimes require troubleshooting efforts under serious time pressure. This can necessitate quick travel to foreign locations.
Among our customers are large OEMs located around the world with very demanding needs and expectations. The applicant should have a dedicated customer focus and results driven mentality.
Moog systems make use of the latest available technologies. Application engineers are expected to proactively search for new technologies and innovative solutions. The job requires creativity and inventiveness.
Required skills and experiences
A bachelors degree in engineering (i.e.: mechatronics or measurement and controls).
Knowledge and understanding of Measurement and Control.
Knowledge and understanding of control systems and cabinet hardware
Good level of control systems engineering: understanding the interaction between mechanical design electronics and control software
Knowledge of programming language like C or MATLAB Simulink
Good level of spoken and written English a second language is a plus
Reporting line
The candidate will report directly to the Manager Application Engineering.
