AI Engineers building and scaling AI solutions

At PA Consulting we are expanding our AI team in Utrecht. We are currently looking for AI Engineers who are motivated by hands-on work with AI solutions and who want to ensure that AI creates real value for organisations across a variety of industries. 

We are looking both for AI Engineers with a few years of experience who are ready to take the next step in their careers and for more experienced AI specialists who want to apply and further develop their technical capabilities in business-critical client projects. We are seeking colleagues with a practical implementation-focused approach to AI and a passion for turning ideas and experiments into demonstrations and production-ready solutions for our clients. You thrive in ambiguous environments where innovation is encouraged bringing a builder mindset and strong software engineering foundations to translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.  

You will work in multidisciplinary teams alongside data scientists software engineers business specialists and this role you will have the opportunity to: 

• Implement AI solutions in real-world settings 

• Advise clients on how AI tools can be technically matured and scaled 

• Help bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions

AI is a strategic growth area for PA and there will be significant interest in your expertise both in client engagements and across the wider organisation. We expect you to actively share your knowledge and be able to communicate complex technical topics in a clear and accessible way including to colleagues and clients without a technical background. 

At PA we work across the entire AI lifecycle from ideation and experimentation to fully implemented solutions with a strong focus on quality responsible AI and scalability. Projects vary but they all share one common principle: AI is not a goal in itself but a means of solving real business challenges for our clients. 

Your work will include: 

• Designing developing and testing AI and Generative AI solutions to address specific business needs 

• Experimenting with and applying modern AI technologies including LLMs RAG architectures and agent-based solutions 

• Integrating AI models with data APIs and existing technology landscapes designing cloud-native solutions on major cloud service providers (such as Azure GCP) 

• Contributing to AI architecture quality assurance evaluation and the responsible use of AI 

• Sharing knowledge and learning collaboratively within PAs active AI community 

• Developing production-grade software using modern engineering practices and agile delivery methodologies 

• Designing and building robust data pipelines and data engineering architectures to support AI/LLM applications. 

You will join a supportive and highly skilled environment where you are not expected to know everything from day one but where you will be given the opportunity to develop quickly through real projects coaching and hands-on learning. 

Qualifications :

We are recruiting at several levels so we encourage you to apply whether you have a few years of experience after graduation or many years of professional experience. 

We are particularly interested in candidates who have: 

• Production experience within AI data science or software engineering 

• Strong programming skills in Python Java or C# with a focus on writing production-grade software 

• Experience with modern software delivery practices including DevOps and CI/CD 

• Building end-to-end AI prototypes including integration with vector databases (e.g. Vertex AI Weaviate Pinecone or similar) 

• Developing AI and agent-based solutions in Python including the use of frameworks such as LangChain or similar 

• Modern vibe coding tools such as GitHub Copilot Codex or Claude Code 

• Cloud platforms (e.g. Azure AWS or Google Cloud Platform) 

• The ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical solutions in an understandable way 

• A relevant degree in areas such as Data Science Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field 

• Fluent in both English and Dutch*

We do not necessarily expect you to match all of the criteria above. We encourage you to apply even if you only meet some of the requirements. 

It is an advantage but not a requirement if you also have experience with: 

• Front-end prototyping in React or similar technologies 

• Evaluation and observability of AI solutions (e.g. RAGAS or similar) 

*Please note that to be considered for this role you must be fluent in Dutch and based in the Netherlands.
