Job Summary

The Challenge

This is a joint land based and seagoing position. Providing and coordinating sea rescue support logistical and basic mechanical assistance to the marine geophysical survey operations.


Qualifications :

    The Ideal Applicant

    • Grade 12 (20 points over 5 subjects including E symbol in English) or Equivalent National Senior Certificate
    • DMA Under 25 Ton Skippers CoC or SAMSA Cat. C with surf launch endorsement (preferable)
    • Code B Driver license (Manual Transmission)
    • STCW certification Elementary first aid Marine firefighting Personal safety and social responsibility Personal safety techniques.
    • Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office packages
    • 2 3 years Sea-going experience on small (<9 meter) vessel or jet ski
    • Service with an official marine rescue organization will be an added advantage
    • Proficient competent swimmer will be assessed and verified
    • Maintenance of marine crafts/vessels
    • Planning organizing and leadership skills.
    • Team working and effective communication skills.
    • Problem solving capabilities in high risk/pressure conditions.
    • Physically fit.
    • Knowledge of jet ski handling and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of general marine craft and outboard maintenance.
    • Comfortable with a seagoing career and competent working in the surf zone.
    • Knowledgeable in first Aid and emergency.
