Job Summary
THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:
- Actively remains abreast of technological advancements and researches solutions to relevant business problems to support innovative business improvements.
- Analyses and improves the effectiveness and efficiency of existing marine mining sampling and treatment systems as directed.
- Conceptualizes evaluates and develops new marine mining and sampling process systems coordinates research and development projects and manages the research and development test facilities as directed.
- Supports the operational readiness of new systems and maintains drawings and mining tool enhancement details and reports.
- Integrates and commissions scale test models at test facilities drafts test programs and schedules executes and oversees tests.
- Analysis test data and formulates conclusions for improvement needed for mining sampling and treatment systems performance.
- Drafts technical reports that detail sub-system design test results and analysis work.
- Communicates with client to ensure that proper feedback is obtained regarding sub-system performance.
- Collaborates with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issues to ensure effective integration with existing application and technology.
- Directs prepares and evaluates the technical aspects of procurement according to the research and development activity scope and organisational procedures.
- Reviews and advises on research and development activity progress and status according to the activity plan and objectives.
- Manages construction and commissioning activities according to the activity plan its requirements organisational standards and required procedures.
Qualifications :
CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Six (6) years related experience
- Computer literacy in MS Suite is essential
- Broad understanding of statistical analysis
- Experience in simulation/CAE/CAD/ DEM/FEA including expert use of MS Excel for simulation and modelling where appropriate
- Experience in assimilating knowledge into appropriate formats and databases and dissemination of technology through technical reports and presentations.
