Job Summary
Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Cashier to join our dynamic automotive service center in Otjiwarongo. This role is critical to ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience by efficiently managing transactions maintaining a clean and organized workspace and delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process cash credit debit and digital payments (e.g. mobile money e-wallets) in compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Maintain a clean organized and well-stocked cashier station including proper handling and storage of cash receipts and payment devices.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly answering inquiries and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist customers with payment options explain service charges and promote upselling opportunities for add-on services (e.g. maintenance packages detailing).
- Handle customer complaints and conflicts with tact active listening and problem-solving skills escalating issues when necessary.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in the point-of-sale (POS) system and reconcile daily sales reports with cash on hand.
- Support service advisors by verifying service details confirming payment status and providing timely updates to customers.
- Adhere to strict attention to detail in counting money issuing receipts and maintaining transaction logs.
- Demonstrate strong time management by efficiently managing transaction volume during peak hours without compromising accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer and financial data in accordance with company privacy policies.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent qualification.
- 01 year of experience in cash handling retail or customer service (automotive or service industry experience is a plus).
- Proven ability in cash handling and balancing daily till with minimal discrepancies.
- Proficiency in digital payment processing (e.g. card terminals mobile payments e-wallets).
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with POS systems Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
- Strong active listening skills to understand customer needs and respond appropriately.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and complaint handling abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
- High level of organization cleanliness and personal presentation.
- Dependable punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective time management and ability to multitask during busy periods.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the automotive service industry.
- Basic understanding of automotive services and common vehicle maintenance terms is advantageous.
