The mission of the job is to support the Project Director in the management of the Main Construction Contract within the constraints of time cost and quality and safety by continuously monitoring and reporting compliance of contractual obligations.
Key areas of focus include Main Contract and Sub-contracts management implementation of efficient and effective internal and external communications protocols site liaison negotiation of change orders and variations sub-contractor management and active contractual risk management monitoring and reporting.
S/he will also provide contractual support to the procurement team.

Responsibilities:
Analyse the Main Contract and Schedules having particular regard for the contract procedures requiring formal notices time limits and other parameters to ensure that a full understanding of the obligations and rights contained therein is achieved.
Ensure that the Project Team is fully aware of the prevalent constraints conditions and contractual environment. Develop appropriate documentation such as a Contract Manual and/or sketches to illustrate the most critical contractual mechanisms.
Ensure that proper mechanisms for risk transfer to subcontractors and insurance providers are identified and enforced.
Protect the contractual position at all times enforcing the notification regime of the Contract.
Prepare submissions for Variations including adjustments to scope and Extensions of Time with the proper substantiation on entitlement quantum; cause and effect and program impact analysis. Agree with the Project Director prior to its submission to the Client and subsequently negotiate if needed.
Prepare submissions for Claims based on obstructions disruptions delays and other contractually allowable relevant events for which the Contractor have relief under the Contract. Agree with the Project Director prior to its submission to the Client and subsequently negotiate if needed.
Fully monitor and report exposure to Liquidated Damages.
Prepare and coordinate with the legal department the determinations on interpretations under the Contract; preliminary action on dispute management; procedural compliance for potential contractual and legal consequences; and potential termination.

Required Skills And Competencies

Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications:

• MSc Civil Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Quantity Surveyor or similar.
• At least 6 years of experience in large Construction projects managing complex Contracts in international environment of which at least 2 should be in a similar position.
• Additional law and/or specific construction contracts degree is valued.
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Excellent command of English and French. Arabic and/or Spanish is a plus.

  • Excellent communications skills customer orientation and proven ability to work within complex organizations across functional areas as well as externally with customers and consultants.
