- Ensure import and export operations comply with all applicable Mexican and international customs trade and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee tariff classification activities and ensure correct application of duties taxes and customs procedures.
- Monitor changes in foreign trade laws customs regulations and government requirements assessing their potential impact on business operations.
- Develop implement and maintain trade compliance policies procedures and work instructions across the organization.
- Lead training initiatives to ensure employees and stakeholders understand customs compliance requirements company policies and regulatory obligations.
- Act as the primary liaison between Global Trade Compliance and local manufacturing and operational teams.
- Maintain the companys IMMEX Program and VAT-IEPS Certification (CIVA) ensuring ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations and authority requirements.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with Annex 24 Annex 30 Annex 31 Regla Octava and other foreign trade control requirements.
- Monitor import and export declarations (pedimentos) to ensure timely processing proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and maintain foreign trade systems including updates related to tariff classifications costs product descriptions Bills of Material (BOM) units of measure and compliance requirements.
- Generate review and submit reports required by customs authorities and government agencies including SAT INEGI COFEPRIS SAGARPA Secretaría de Economía FDA and U.S. Customs.
- Support Planning Procurement Customer Service and Operations teams in monitoring and tracking international shipments and materials in transit.
- Lead internal and external audits conducted by government agencies and regulatory authorities.
- Manage departmental budgets and expenses related to import/export operations while identifying opportunities for tax savings and cost reduction.
- Lead projects focused on continuous improvement compliance enhancement process optimization and operational efficiency.
- Develop coach and support the Import/Export team through effective leadership training and performance management.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodologies to achieve operational and compliance objectives.
- Participate in CAPA activities and ensure corrective actions comply with company policies regulatory standards and quality system requirements.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican Foreign Trade regulations customs compliance and international trade requirements.
- Ability to interpret regulations and effectively communicate complex compliance topics across different organizational levels.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Effective presentation communication and training skills.
- Experience managing audits government inspections and compliance certifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Bachelors Degree in International Trade Economics Supply Chain Management Engineering Business Administration or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing operations import/export management trade compliance or supply chain functions.
- Extensive experience with IMMEX VAT-IEPS Certification (CIVA) Annex 24 Annex 31 and customs compliance programs.
- Experience working with ERP systems preferably SAP.
- Strong knowledge of customs reporting systems and foreign trade operations.
- Experience leading audits with customs authorities and government agencies.
- Knowledge of inventory control processes and compliance requirements within manufacturing environments.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with FDA COFEPRIS OEA and related regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies such as A3 Ishikawa and Root Cause Analysis.
- Project management and team leadership experience.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency both written and verbal.
