Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new independent publicly traded company which were calling SpinCo until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs this role will support SpinCo which will focus on critical digital infrastructure delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications
To contribute to our efforts and support the teams that build great products we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer-SMT Technical Lead located at Guadalajara North Campus.
Reporting to the Process Manager We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Process Engineer to oversee and optimize our manufacturing operations with a critical and specialized focus on Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes which serve as the primary technical differentiator and top priority for this role. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the integrity of SMT manufacturing processes ensuring operational excellence adherence to quality standards and driving continuous innovation through Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Additionally this role serves as the primary technical point of contact for international clients providing leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers to ensure project scalability robustness and success. provement objectives.
What a typical day looks like:
Supervise technical activities in SMT processes and coordinate the team.
Develop and optimize programs for DEK SPI Camalot and Press Fit equipment.
Analyze and validate stencils; perform SPI debug and P&P failure analysis.
Develop reflow profiles as well as instrumentation of profiling boards.
Create procedures visual aids and technical presentations.
Perform capacity calculations rates per station and identify bottlenecks in the process.
Document and implement continuous improvement actions and Kaizen events.
Establish Manufacturing process and manage process that are designed according to customer specifications.
Work on the continuous improvement to increase yield scrap reduction and cycle time.
Should be able to troubleshoot PCB Assembly process issues.
Should be able to make CPK Study before delivering solder paste processes.
Design & develop tools jigs fixtures and drive the incoming and until it is implemented on the production line.
Development of proper documentation and manufacturing process according to customer specifications.
Recognize the manufacturing process technologies techniques and product specifications.
Define implement and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
Have the capability to work with other engineers to identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process.
High level participation in daily production activities and effective problem solving on daily issues.
Prepare purchase justification for the acquisition of capital equipment.
Analysis and execution of engineering changes.
Parameter characterization to ensure robustness and repeatability process.
Take ownership to develop implement new process control methodologies.
The experience were looking to add to our team:
Engineering degree
Experience in SMT PTH and Backend processes SPI edge bonding and smart torque system
Assembly Integration: Partner with downstream assembly and test teams to ensure process compatibility product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Documentation & Quality: Develop and maintain process flowcharts PFMEA control plans work instructions and process validations to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Technical Differentiators (High Priority) The ideal candidate must demonstrate advanced expertise and hands-on technical mastery in:
- SMT Process Engineering
- Solder Paste Printing
- Reflow Process Development
- SMT Defect Troubleshooting: Strong experience identifying and resolving defects such as: Bridging Insufficient solder Tombstoning Head-in-Pillow (HIP) Opens Component shifts Solder balls and Voiding
- Inspection Technologies
- Statistical Process Control (SPC): Strong understanding of process capability analysis control charts data-driven decision making and process monitoring.
