OnStar Connected Operations Engineer

Job Description

• A senior developer is needed to design and deliver Databricks-based executive reporting and a high-quality end-user experience for data access and consumption across GMs telematics information. This role will enable scalable reliable and intuitive solutions for Phyton automation. The role requires a strong root-cause analysis mindset to extract insights from data already stored in the database and use them to conduct investigations.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design build and maintain executive-level dashboards and reportsusing Databricks SQL and dashboarding/visualization capabilities focused on clear storytelling performance and ease of use.
  • Collaborate with data engineersto define and validate optimized data modelsthat:
  • Improve report query performance and scalability.
  • Enable an exceptional user customer experience.
  • Develop solutions for data analytics.
  • Investigate end-to-end system performance and customer experience issues and applying sound technical judgment to data for the develop of system remedies.
  • Configure and manage role-based accessand data security in dashboards and semantic models in alignment with GM policies.
  • Continuously monitor and tune report and query performance recommending data model or design changes as necessary.
  • High level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution where problems are complex.

  Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems Data Science Business Analytics Engineering or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5 yearsof experience as an analytics/report developer BI developer or data visualization engineerbuilding production dashboards and reports.
  • English: Advanced
  • Hands-on experience with Databricksfor analytics and reporting including:
  • Strong SQL & Phyton skills.
  • Experience building and managing power Bi dashboards and visualizations.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to frame complex data in clear narratives for senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams(data engineers architects product owners and business partners).
  • Availability to travel (15-20%)

  Desirable

  • AI and advanced analytics capabilities to enhance dashboards (e.g. smart narratives anomaly detection natural language explanations)
