What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components products systems and processes.

Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing implementing and continuously improving manufacturing processes production floor layouts equipment and associated tools. The function reviews new and existing designs for manufacturability and identifies opportunities to improve product quality process capability operational efficiency cycle time and cost.

Job Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer oversees and project manages manufacturing engineering initiatives of moderate to high complexity. This role serves as a technical lead for internal and external engineering teams and is responsible for managing projects from initiation through implementation including resource planning technical execution validation and final project completion.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer supports manufacturing operations by identifying opportunities for process improvement resolving complex technical issues implementing equipment or process changes and ensuring solutions meet quality safety regulatory and business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the coordination and overall integration of technical activities within engineering projects.
  • Leads manufacturing engineering projects from concept planning and design through implementation and completion.
  • Designs and implements mechanical and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes and identifies opportunities to improve quality efficiency productivity and cost.
  • Selects appropriate materials components equipment and technologies for applicable design or process changes.
  • Directs reviews and approves proposed engineering and process design changes.
  • Documents engineering changes process improvements technical assessments and project results.
  • Implements design changes within applicable facilities and production lines.
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing operations and assists with troubleshooting equipment and process-related issues.
  • Supports process validation qualification and implementation activities as required.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Quality Operations Maintenance Regulatory Supply Chain and other Engineering teams.
  • Supports root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensures engineering activities comply with applicable quality safety regulatory and company requirements.
  • Applies continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to improve operational performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 24 years of relevant manufacturing process or engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and engineering projects.
  • Experience with process improvement equipment implementation troubleshooting and technical documentation preferred.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Advanced English proficiency required.
  • Strong communication analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
