What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components products systems and processes.
Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes production floor layouts equipment systems and associated tools. The function reviews new and existing designs for manufacturability and develops process improvements to reduce product cost and cycle time while improving product quality reliability and operational performance.
Job Summary
The Principal Process Engineer leads complex manufacturing and process engineering projects and serves as a senior technical resource within the organization. This position provides technical leadership for process design optimization product and process improvements equipment implementation and cost-saving initiatives.
The Principal Process Engineer leads cross-functional project teams evaluates complex technical challenges develops innovative engineering solutions and ensures manufacturing processes meet operational quality regulatory safety and business requirements.
The role is also responsible for managing project priorities and budgets and may provide technical guidance mentoring and coaching to junior engineers and other technical personnel.
Responsibilities
- Leads complex process and manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Leads product and process engineering initiatives focused on continuous improvement quality productivity and cost savings.
- Reviews and evaluates manufacturing processes equipment and product designs to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develops implements and optimizes manufacturing processes to improve process capability efficiency reliability cycle time and product quality.
- Ensures regulatory and quality compliance of engineering designs and manufacturing processes.
- Reviews and approves significant engineering design changes and process modifications.
- Provides technical leadership in troubleshooting complex manufacturing and process-related issues.
- Leads root cause analysis and supports corrective and preventive action activities.
- Supports process validation qualification technology transfer and implementation of new equipment or manufacturing processes.
- Provides engineering support for new product introduction and product/process transfers.
- Collaborates with Quality Operations Regulatory Maintenance Supply Chain Marketing and other cross-functional partners to identify and implement product and process improvements.
- Leads engineering studies technical assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs and improve operational performance.
- Ensures projects are executed according to established scope schedule budget quality and regulatory requirements.
- Delegates engineering work to junior engineers and technical personnel as appropriate.
- Provides technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Serves as a technical subject matter expert for manufacturing and process engineering activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 48 years of relevant manufacturing process or engineering experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong experience with manufacturing process development troubleshooting optimization and implementation.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with process validation root cause analysis CAPA Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Advanced English proficiency required.
- Strong analytical communication project management and problem-solving skills.
