Job Summary
Role
This position will report to the Commercial Lines Products and Propety Director and be overseen by the Regional Head of Construction.
Contribution at AIG
As a People Manager of an underwriting team composed by other underwriter this leader will guide motivate and develop our talents and empower and coach the underwriter toward higher levels of performance. This position is responsible for developing business strategies and/or translating those strategies into meaningful outcomes and ultimately business results. As an underwriting head his/her responsibility will reach across geographical and functional boundaries to create alliances that further the organizations objectives and market position. A deep specialization in Construction business is required to allow foreseeing external conditions that could potentially affect AIGs future.
Based in Mexico City the role will lead our Construction Line of Business with the Commercial Lines and Property Director.
Key Responsibilities
Define the Construction strategy in Mexico aligned with International Construction strategies. Drive the Construction vision and value proposition. Recognize and respond to changing business and competitive environment dynamics to further progress the strong value we bring to our clients.
Find recruit train develop and retain high performance people
Support Construction underwriter in making business decisions that leverage their expertise and experience in combination with powerful analytical models. Provide referral support in line with own underwriting authority.
Develop and deliver innovative market-leading products and services that meet our customers dynamic needs in a manner that effectively leverages AIG strengths as a competitive differential in the marketplace.
Drive underwriting and operational excellence across all Construction businesses within Global guardrails and in collaboration with the Regional Construction Head by ensuring adherence to underwriting methodology risk appetite line setting guidelines business rules and pricing adequacy.
Promote synergies among all Distribution other underwriting teams and other support staff.
Collaborate with Claims to ensure a reputation of Claims excellence in the marketplace and with Actuarial on creating and maintaining effective pricing tools.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers producers reinsurers and other partners.
Skills
The ideal profile must balance deep technical underwriting expertise with sharp financial acumen
The candidate must know the complexities of large scale infrastructure energy and civil engineering projects.
Reinsurance: proficiency in negotiating and structuring facultative reinsurance (efficient capacity management and retention limit optimization)
Expert knowledge of London Market standard clauses NMA/LMA clauses and LEG wordings.
Probable Maximum Loss modeling and manage geographic accumultions particularly regarding CAT exposures (Earthquake and Windstorm)
P&L Ownership strict focus on UW profit combined ratio acquisition costs and loss ratio.
Proven track record of high level relationships with global and local brokers. The candidate must act as a business enabler who finds how to say yes to complex risks without compromising the technical result.
Accountability focus on meeting KPIs and new business targets present results and defend strategies.
