Job Summary

Position Overview:

The Product Compliance and Certification Engineer is responsible for supporting product compliance certification and environmental regulatory activities across Columbus McKinnons product portfolio. This role partners with product development legal procurement supply chain product management and marketing teams to ensure new and existing products conform to applicable laws regulations industry standards and customer requirements in the markets where they are sold. The position also maintains compliance documentation supports supplier data collection coordinates laboratory validation activities and helps communicate product compliance information to internal stakeholders channel partners customers and regulatory agencies.

Location: Monterrey Mexico

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with new product development engineering teams to ensure new products comply with applicable laws regulations industry standards and other legal requirements in the markets where Columbus McKinnon products are sold.
  • Develop and maintain environmental assessment documentation for product development projects including bill of material-level compliance information data sources and links to supporting certification documents.
  • Monitor regional national local and industry-specific regulatory requirements to support ongoing product compliance and certification activities.
  • Collaborate with Legal Product Management and Marketing teams to communicate product compliance information to channel partners end users and regulatory agencies.
  • Support the Legal team in publishing and updating Columbus McKinnons corporate sustainability reports.
  • Maintain Product Data Management (PDM) records with current and accurate environmental compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external laboratories to validate the environmental compliance of components and materials.
  • Work with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to obtain supplier material compliance data maintain compliance records and support Sales teams in responding to product compliance inquiries.
  • Assess applicable requirements under international chemical and material regulations including the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) California Proposition 65 Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) and Registration Evaluation Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals Directive (REACH).

Knowledge Skills Competencies and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of materials science polymers metallurgy chemistry and/or environmental science supported by formal coursework or related technical experience.
  • Ability to read interpret and apply technical standards certification requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Experience using computer databases technical search tools and technical documentation systems to research organize and report compliance information.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient English communication skills appropriate for technical industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to multiple Columbus McKinnon locations as business needs require.
  • Strong organizational verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and document information accurately.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical Electrical Electronics Materials Chemical Bio-Medical) or related field from an ABET accredited program in the United States or equivalent foreign accreditation.
  • Preferred: 1 years of experience on product certification with third party agencies environmental compliance European Union and/or United States chemical substance restrictions.
