The Director Restaurant Technology and Innovation will lead the evolution of the Subway restaurant experience across Latin America and the Caribbean. Working in partnership with architects designers Subway operations development and digital teams this leader will define and build a pilot the next generation of Subway restaurants for the regioncreating a modern technology-forward digitally enabled restaurant experience for both guests and franchisees. S/he will lead the strategy roadmap and execution of in-restaurant technology across the LAC region from point-of-sale and digital ordering to kitchen and customer experience.
Based in Mexico City and reporting to the VP Growth (LAC) this role also partners closely with franchisees Master Franchisees regional technology vendors and Global Technology teams to identify pilot and scale solutions that improve the guest experience restaurant throughput and franchisee profitability across a diverse and fast-growing region.
- Define and build a pilot the next generation of Subway restaurants for the regioncreating a modern technology-forward digitally enabled restaurant experience for both guests and franchisees.
- Define and execute the restaurant technology roadmap for LAC including POS kitchen display systems digital ordering kiosks loyalty programs and delivery integrations in partnership with Global Technology.
- Identify pilot and scale in-restaurant innovation initiatives (equipment automation digital guest experience) that improve throughput food safety and franchisee profitability.
- Own vendor management for regional restaurant technology suppliers negotiating contracts and SLAs that work for independent franchisees across diverse LAC markets.
- Partner with franchisees and BDAs/Master Franchisees to drive adoption of approved technology platforms and ensure compliance with brand standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Global Technology Operations Development Marketing and Supply Chain to localize and deploy technology solutions across Mexico Central America South America and the Caribbean.
- Build business cases and ROI models for new technology investments; present recommendations to LAC leadership and franchisee advisory councils.
- Track emerging QSR technology trends (AI-enabled ordering kitchen automation loyalty/CRM platforms) and assess applicability to the LAC franchise system
- Lead cross-functional project teams through technology rollouts from pilot design through regional scale-up minimizing disruption to restaurant operations
- Establish KPIs and reporting to track technology adoption uptime and ROI across the region; report progress regularly to the President LAC
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Business Information Technology Engineering or a related field; MBA a plus.
- 10 years of experience in restaurant technology retail technology or QSR operations including experience within a franchised business model.
- Proven track record leading technology innovation programs from pilot through multi-market rollout.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating technology contracts (POS payments kitchen equipment delivery integrations).
- Strong understanding of the LAC restaurant/retail landscape; direct experience working with franchisees or independent business owners strongly preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) required; Portuguese a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority across franchisees vendors and cross-functional global teams.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen; comfortable building ROI models and business cases.
- Willingness to travel approximately 3040% across the LAC region.
