Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Controls Engineer to provide technical support and leadership for industrial control systems used in manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for improving system performance reliability and efficiency through advanced troubleshooting automation maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. The Controls Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams lead technical efforts and support operational excellence by leveraging data-driven decision-making maintenance best practices and strong engineering fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading automation reliability or capital improvement projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs such as MTTR MTBF OEE equipment availability and downtime reduction.
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving methodologies (A3 8D Ishikawa Root Cause Analysis).
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning processes.
  • Experience implementing predictive maintenance technologies and reliability improvement programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in industrial controls within a manufacturing environment.
  • Conversational English (required).
  • Proven experience managing teams of 2025 people.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming (ControlLogix MicroLogix).
  • Experience programming HMIs (PanelView Plus) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with Ethernet/IP and DeviceNet networks.
  • Experience developing implementing and supporting preventive corrective and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning methodologies focused on equipment reliability and uptime improvement.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems control and relay logic instrumentation and electronics.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics hydraulics and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams schematics and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD for schematics is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-directed and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Position Overview

The Controls Engineer will develop and maintain control system standards and configurations for new and existing manufacturing equipment. This includes overseeing installation commissioning validation and ongoing support of control systems to ensure proper functionality reliability and compliance with operational requirements.

The role involves implementing programming changes to improve equipment performance analyzing manufacturing processes to identify automation opportunities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Controls Engineer will maintain and update technical documentation including control logic schematics system configurations and equipment standards.

Responsibilities include leading troubleshooting efforts using structured problem-solving methodologies improving equipment reliability through data analysis and driving initiatives based on key performance indicators such as MTTR MTBF equipment availability downtime and OEE. The position will support and enhance preventive predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and operational effectiveness.

Additionally the Controls Engineer will partner closely with Maintenance teams to identify recurring equipment failures perform root cause analysis develop corrective actions and implement reliability improvements. The role will support maintenance planning activities critical spare parts strategies equipment lifecycle management and best practices that improve asset performance and reduce unplanned downtime.

The Controls Engineer will also train production and maintenance personnel on system operation diagnostics troubleshooting techniques and programming while collaborating with tooling engineering quality and operations teams on new equipment and process development. The position requires managing and coordinating technical teams ensuring compliance with safety quality and regulatory standards and contributing to long-term automation maintenance and manufacturing strategies.
