Job Purpose and Impact

The Category Insights Lead will apply full knowledge to develop a deep and forward-looking understanding of customer consumer category and destination-market dynamics across the food value chain supporting strategic commercial decisions and customer-driven growth priorities for Cargill Food Mexico.
In this role you will research and analyze complex and varied data sources including customer and market information competitive intelligence consumer and shopper trends business environment market dynamics and competition to identify relevant opportunities for customers and for Cargill.
You will translate market intelligence into actionable insights and recommendations that support innovation differentiated customer value propositions portfolio priorities and Where to Play and How to Win decisions. You will also generate relevant and compelling category-based insights for commercial and cross-functional teams helping strengthen Cargills position as a strategic innovation and growth partner for its customers.

Key Accountabilities

Apply syndicated digital and other relevant research tools to assess past current and future performance of categories and destination markets including competitive opportunities and risks and commercial effectiveness to support marketing innovation business and customer strategies.
Conduct complex quantitative analysis on shopper attitudes needs and behaviors in the category for insights generation and activation and provide specific actionable recommendations to commercial teams.
Triangulate customer channel category and destination-market data and intelligence from various sources and tools applying analysis and analytics to develop actionable recommendations for category growth portfolio priorities differentiated value propositions positioning and pricing strategies.
Apply full knowledge of insights tools and methodologies to continuously improve category insights processes and activities.
Provide customers and internal commercial teams with advice and recommendations on category and market opportunities including actionable and tailored insights that connect customer needs and destination-market trends with differentiated value propositions innovation priorities and relevant Cargill capabilities.
Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Strong ability to make connections across disparate and complex data and insights see the full picture and use tailored story telling techniques to influence and enable insights based decision making across diverse commercial teams
Fluency in English written and oral
Minimum of four years of related work experience
Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications
Broad knowledge of category research tools methodologies and suppliers
Strong understanding of commercial functions such as marketing and sales and how those connect with category insights activities
Strong understanding of the market environment and its implications for category insights activities
Experience performing complex market customer and consumer research analyzing and distilling results providing recommendations and activating insights in a commercial organization
