Automotive Mechanical Project Leader
Job Summary
The Mechanical Project Leader coordinates all project component related tasks and activities from start of development until end-of-production. Manage communication between internal/external stakeholders. Capable of leading projects of medium to high complexity. Acts as a technical counterpart to the Project Manager and is responsible for planning coordinating and executing global multi-disciplinary engineering activities to achieve project success. Responsible for making sure the technical team understands and fulfills the customer and internal requirements on specification on schedule and on budget.
- Will be responsible for coordinating cross functional engineering teams to achieve project goals during the project life cycle. ME-PL leads the support teams (e.g. purchasing production plant project leader mechanical design engineer testing engineer) within the project execution on topics related to mechanical topics.
- Manage international cross-functional teams to assure automotive project requirements implementation on time within costs and specifications.
- Collaborate with SW and HW development functions on advanced Driver Assistance technologies.
- Main contact/interface and coordinator with customers and other stakeholders to understand their needs to deduce prioritization of increments by business value.
- Implementation of defined technical content to project targets.
- Risk management within discipline scope and support of the Project Manager
- Project planning and tracking within discipline scope cross-functional aligned between the disciplines for mechanical topics
- Evaluation and planning of mechanical requirements and estimation of effort within project scope
- Direct contact with OEMs on technical discussions within project scope
- Support of the Project Manager in the management of mechanical issues within project scope.
- Preparation of releases within the project scope (e.g. Technical Releases Quality Gates)
- Take design and implementation decisions to fulfill the technical requirements in the project within the defined boundaries. Accept / reject technical requirements in the customer project.
- Responsible for evaluating customer specifications translating requirements into requirement evaluation tests coverage and support of issues tracking.
- Carry out project management according to Bosch APQP.
- Costs estimation and budget development tracking and control.
- Plan and moderate samples build and delivery.
- Project meeting organization internal & external for monitoring to report project status to upper management (open topics issues monitoring tracking and resolving) on recurrent basis (weekly monthly other).
- Support all continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts.
- Supports sales and purchasing departments in acquisition phases for development efforts and technical descriptions.
- Responsible for the timely delivery of product goals and targets including specifications and samples. (resource planning and timelines).
- Assures documentation of the project to fulfill internal and customer quality standards ensuring best practices.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechatronic Engineering or related technical field (Mechanical Electronic Industrial Systems) or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of full experience in technical project management of automotive projects (product development (life cycle automotive industry experience).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in leading project teams.
- Experience with vehicle and system testing and release procedures in automotive or related industry.
- Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Team oriented problem solving strong coordination and diplomatic skills and assertiveness.
- Ability to promote integration and motivation of the project team.
- Travel required approximately 20% of the time more or less depending on Project type and status.

- Language & Tools:
- English: Advanced (Fluent) (Good written / verbal communication and presentation skills to discuss and negotiate issues / solutions with team and external customers).
- Microsoft Office (Word Excel Power Point MS Project).

Travel required approximately 5% of the time within Mexico or USA
