Role Summary

As a key contributor to the R&D team you will apply scientific knowledge to solve technical problems through experimental methods and lab-based testing. Reporting to the Assistant R&D Manager you will take an applied approach to problem-solving moving from defined methods to exercising technical judgment in product development. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a budding scientist to support high-visibility projects while collaborating with business partners in Quality Regulatory and Supply Chain to bring innovative products to market.

Responsibilities

• Experimental Execution & Scale-Up: Conduct lab batches support batch scale-up and perform rigorous laboratory testing and aging studies to ensure product stability and performance.

• Technical Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of experimental work including lab notebooks and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring all data is compiled accurately for efficient technology transfer.

• Product Evaluation & Innovation: Assist in formula development and feasibility assessments for new technologies recommending improved evaluation methods and processes to enhance technical efficiency.

• Safety & Quality Compliance: Execute all activities in strict accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and EOHS standards including the safe handling of corrosive or flammable materials and mitigating potential quality incidents.

• Cross-Functional Communication: Summarize and communicate lab results and process learnings to peers and supervisors supporting the technical interface between R&D and global business partners.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Biochemistry or Material Science.

• 1 year of experience in the Consumer Goods (CPG) industry or a functional R&D laboratory environment.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Project).

• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship or academic research experience in a relevant scientific field.

• Familiarity with consumer insight translation into technical product attributes.
