Purchasing Manager
Job Summary
Our client a leading organisation within the ship repair and industrial sector is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and manage its procurement operations in Malta.
The successful candidate will oversee the full purchasing cycle ensuring the timely acquisition of materials equipment and services required for shipbuilding repair and refit projects. This role plays a key part in supporting operational efficiency cost control and project delivery while maintaining strong supplier relationships and high-quality standards.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Manage the full purchasing cycle from requisition to purchase order issuance.
- Negotiate pricing commercial terms payment conditions and supplier agreements.
- Identify evaluate and develop new suppliers and strategic partners.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality delivery cost and reliability.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely procurement for ongoing projects.
- Analyse purchasing costs budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage sourcing of materials spare parts equipment and technical services.
- Ensure all purchased goods and services comply with technical specifications and project requirements.
- Lead supervise and develop the procurement team.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement KPIs supplier performance and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulations.
- Degree in Business Administration Engineering Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager Procurement Manager or similar role.
- Previous experience within marine shipyard industrial oil & gas offshore or construction sectors will be considered a strong advantage.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and specifications.
- Experience in budget management and cost analysis.
- Strong leadership organisational and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Fluent English communication skills both written and spoken.
