We are currently seeking a Laundry Attendant to join our pre-opening team at Manhattan Grand Hotel. This role is responsible for the washing drying pressing and finishing of guest laundry linen and uniforms ensuring every item meets the Hotels exacting standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort wash dry and finish guest laundry hotel linen and colleague uniforms in accordance with fabric care and Hotel standards.
- Operate laundry machinery including washers dryers ironers and pressing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect items for stains damage or wear applying appropriate treatment or escalating for repair/replacement as needed.
- Fold package and prepare finished laundry and linen for timely distribution to guest rooms outlets and departments.
- Maintain accurate records of guest laundry items ensuring correct tagging tracking and return to the appropriate guest room.
- Monitor stock levels of laundry chemicals and supplies reporting shortages to the Laundry Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness organisation and safety standards within the laundry area at all times.
- Handle lost damaged or delayed laundry items promptly and professionally escalating guest-related issues as needed.
- Ensure safe handling storage and use of laundry chemicals in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with the Hotels brand standards grooming guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
To excel in this role you should have:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Laundry Attendant preferably within an upscale or luxury hospitality environment.
- Working knowledge of fabric care laundry equipment operation and stain treatment techniques.
- Strong attention to detail particularly in sorting tagging and quality checking finished items.
- Sound understanding of safe chemical handling and laundry hygiene standards.
- Good physical stamina with the ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy linen loads.
- Basic communication skills in English sufficient for reporting and coordination with other departments.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure particularly during high-occupancy periods.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays as required.
