TalTap has already established operations in Latvia and Poland and is now expanding across Central and Eastern Europe. As the company continues to scale we are looking for a Senior Python Engineer to help build and evolve the core backend platform behind TalTaps marketplace mobile applications and internal business tools.

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Engineer to join TalTaps engineering team and take ownership of backend development API architecture and cloud-based solutions.

In this role you will architect build and maintain scalable backend services using Python Flask FastAPI and REST APIs. You will work on the core TalTap platform internal back-office tools and APIs powering mobile and web applications.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy startup pace clean engineering practices and wants to have a real impact on a growing the future this role may also evolve into a Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager position as the team scales.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect build and maintain backend services for TalTaps platform using Python Flask and FastAPI
Design and implement scalableREST APIs for mobile and web applications
Develop and enhance internal back-office tools to support business operations
Work with Firebase andGoogle Cloud Platform / GCP to support cloud-based backend solutions
Build and maintain cloud functions and scalable backend architecture
Optimize backend services for performance reliability security and maintainability
Collaborate with product operations and business teams to clarify requirements and deliver robust features
Drive technical decision-making and contribute to the overall platform architecture
Write clean maintainable and efficient code
Take ownership of backend delivery in a fast-moving startup environment
In the future potentially lead and mentor engineers as the engineering team grows

Key Requirements:

Must-Have:

4 years of professional experience with Python
Strong backend development experience with Flask and/or FastAPI
Solid experience designing and developing REST APIs
Experience building scalable backend systems for web or mobile applications
Understanding of cloud functions and scalable backend architecture
Ability to write clean maintainable and efficient code
Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges
Readiness to work in a hybrid setup in Riga with 23 office visits per week
Citizenship of an EU / Schengen country

Nice-to-Have:

Hands-on experience with Firebase
Experience with Google Cloud Platform / GCP
Experience building internal tools or back-office systems
Previous experience in marketplace staffing HRTech logistics workforce management or similar platforms
Experience contributing to technical architecture and product-level decisions
Previous startup or scale-up experience
Leadership potential or interest in growing into a Principal Engineer / Engineering Manager role

Location & Work Model:

Location focus: Riga Latvia
Work model: Hybrid with 23 days per week in the office
Relocation: TalTap provides a relocation package to Riga of around $ USD
Current hiring focus is Riga only. Krakow may be considered later after the initial 24 hires in Riga are completed.

Compensation:

Budget: up to $8500 total monthly cost
Base salary target: up to around $7000/month gross
Stock options are included
Exceptions may be considered for exceptionally strong candidates

Recruitment Process:

Round 1: Onsite technical interview onsite technical test
Round 2: Onsite or online interview with CEO and Co-Founders
Round 3: Additional interview only if needed for example if one of the decision-makers was not able to attend the previous round or if extra clarification is required
