TRANSPORT SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY

To supervise and coordinate the safe efficient and cost-effective operation of agricultural tractors excavators back hoes green leaf transport trucks utility vehicles loggers mowers and related fleet equipment. The role ensures proper fleet utilization driver/operator discipline preventive maintenance coordination fuel control compliance with safety standards and timely transport operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Allocate vehicles and equipment according to operational needs.

Monitor fleet movement utilization and productivity.

Ensure timely dispatch and return of vehicles/equipment.

Coordinate transport schedules with field factory estate and operations departments.

To identify skill gaps plan and schedule appropriate training programs for drivers and operators.

Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Monitor discipline attendance performance and adherence to company procedures.

Train operators on proper machine handling and fuel economy practices.

Investigate accidents incidents and operational complaints.

Conduct daily inspection checks on fleet and equipment.

Report breakdowns and coordinate repairs with workshop personnel.

Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.

Monitor machine condition and minimize downtime.

Maintain fuel records mileage/hour-meter reports and monitor fuel consumption and identify abnormal usage.

Control unauthorized vehicle or equipment use.

Assist in reducing transport and operational costs.

To ensure smooth cordial and efficient inter departmental cooperation for efficient delivery of services and optimizing of Company resources.

Implement budget and control resources within the section and ensure that targets are achieved at the expected cost.

Enforce safety standards and adherence to company policies and procedures existing social audits and be involved in such committees as may be required.

Allocate tasks to drivers operators & ensure set targets are achieved.

Keep vehicle records logbooks insurance and inspection reports updated

Ensure drivers follow traffic laws and company policies

Ensure vehicle licensing and insurance are valid

Train or guide drivers/Operators on safety and proper vehicle tractors excavators loggers and Back hoes handling.

Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and cleanliness

Reduce breakdowns and operating costs

Maintain accurate records for Fleet movement Fuel usage Maintenance schedules Driver attendance Breakdown reports Trip sheets and machine operating hours.

Prepare daily weekly and monthly operational reports.

Monitor vehicle licensing insurance and inspection validity.

Enforce transport safety policies and company regulations and Conduct routine safety inspections.

Ensure compliance with traffic laws occupational safety and environmental standards.

Ensure all vehicles carry required safety equipment and documentation.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications

1. Education

Diploma in Agricultural /Mechanical/ Automotive Engineering

Applicants with Certificate/ Diploma in Fleet management will have added advantage.

2. Experience

Over 3 years experience in Fleet/transport Supervision in a busy Agricultural or Commercial set up

Experience with agricultural and heavy machinery operations preferred.

With valid driving license and over 5 years driving experience

3. Skills & Competencies

Good leadership and supervisory skills with ability to manage drivers and machine operators.

Good reporting and record-keeping skills.

Basic computer skills (Excel transport systems fleet records).

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Good communication and teamwork skills.
