Submerged Arc Welding Machine Operator
Job Summary
- Set-up and operation of submerged arc welding machines.
- Selection and adjustment of welding parameters including voltage current travel speed and wire-feed speed.
- Knowledge of welding consumables including wire electrodes and flux handling.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot welding defects and machine faults.
- Understanding of fabrication processes material properties and dimensional tolerances.
- Practical welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 23 years experience operating submerged arc welding machines in a manufacturing or heavy-engineering environment.
- Experience working on heavy structural steel bridges tanks pressure vessels or similar fabrication projects is an added advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings welding symbols and fabrication specifications.
- Knowledge of welding procedures quality standards and safety regulations.
- Valid welding certification; SAW certification is an added advantage.
Required Skills:
CNC laser cutting machine operation and set-up. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings. CNC programming and parameter adjustment where applicable. Machine calibration and preventive maintenance. Quality control and dimensional inspection. Knowledge of nesting software and material-utilisation optimisation.
Required Education:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Production Option).At least 23 years experience operating a CNC laser cutting machine in a manufacturing in CNC programming and machine set-up is an added to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
