SPH Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

To supervise and coordinate maintenance servicing repair and deployment of Self Propelled harvesters (SPH) to ensure reliability availability efficiency and safety hence ensure minimum downtime during critical harvesting operation.

To give support as may be required in other mechanized field activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To execute work plans and operational procedures for maximizing SPH timely and effective harvesting of Greenleaf.

Plan and schedule daily deployment of SPH and agricultural machinery

Maintain an updated and accurate harvesting performance log and fuel use on the machines. Analyze data to calculate the cost-benefit ratio measure and report performance progress to the Operations Manager.

Coordinate the schedule of SPH PPM and service calls. Ensure that all harvesting fleet are in good working order including regular maintenance and repairs.

Ensure that breakdowns and downtime are reduced to a minimum do root cause analyses and ensure appropriate corrective actions are done in liaison with the Operations Manager.

In liaison with Stores Fleet and Procurement managers coordinate ordering of spares and consumables to ensure optimum inventory levels are maintained.

Ensured VTH machines achieve required fleet utilization productivity and fuel consumption

Identify skill gaps plan and schedule appropriate training programs for SPH Mechanics and operators.

To ensure smooth cordial and efficient inter departmental cooperation for efficient delivery of services and optimizing of Company resources.

Plan budget manage and control resources within the section and ensure that targets are achieved at the expected cost.

Enforce safety standards and adherence to company policies and procedures existing social audits and be involved in such committees as may be required.

Ground unsafe equipment and authorize return to service after repairs.

Allocate tasks to SPH mechanics and operators & ensure set targets are achieved.

Maintain good working relations among Mechanics operators and Estate management

Ensure good quality tea by supervising the harvesting and ensuring table creep is being observed in every harvesting and SPH Harvesting blades are properly sharpened

Properly in Liaison with the Estate management plan for relocation of SPH machines and ensure tractor for transfer of Machine is readily available when required.

Enforce safety standards and adherence to company policies and procedures existing social audits and be involved in such committees as may be required.

Ground unsafe equipment and authorize return to service after repairs.

Ensure that SPH mechanics have proper and sufficient work tools and equipment.

Maintain maintenance logs and service histories

Control fuel lubricants Crawlers and spare parts usage

Prepare maintenance budgets and cost reports

Reduce breakdowns and operating costs

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Operations Manager.

Required Qualifications

1. Education

Diploma in Agricultural /Mechanical/ Automotive Engineering

2. Experience

i. Over 5 years experience in Fleet or plant maintenance in a busy Agricultural / Commercial set up.

ii. Hands-on experience with diesel engines Plant travel Mechanism hydraulic and electrical systems

3. Certifications (Added Advantage)

i. Supervisory or leadership training

ii. Occupational Safety & Health (OSHA)

iii. Proficiency in Microsoft office Especially MS Excel & Ms Word

4. Skills & Competencies

i. Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills

ii. Preventive maintenance planning

iii. Team leadership and supervision

iv. Budgeting and cost control

v. Report writing and record keeping
