Senior Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations ensure regulatory compliance and support strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills accuracy and leadership capability.
- Oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger management accounts payable accounts receivable payroll coordination and financial reporting processes
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring full compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal reporting requirements
- Ensure full compliance with tax statutory and regulatory obligations including timely preparation and submission of VAT PAYE corporate tax and other statutory filings
- Manage and perform bank reconciliations supplier and customer reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations ensuring all discrepancies are identified investigated and resolved promptly
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records ledgers and supporting documentation ensuring proper audit trails and adherence to internal controls
- Support and lead the budgeting and forecasting process including preparation of budgets monitoring performance against budgets and conducting variance analysis
- Provide financial analysis and insights to management to support decision-making including cost analysis revenue trends and profitability assessments
- Monitor and manage cash flow ensuring optimal utilization of funds and maintaining adequate liquidity for operational needs
- Develop implement and continuously improve accounting processes internal controls and financial systems to enhance efficiency accuracy and compliance
- Supervise guide and review the work of junior accounting staff ensuring accuracy timeliness and adherence to company policies and procedures
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits including preparation of audit schedules responding to audit queries and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings
- Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors tax consultants banks and regulatory authorities on financial and compliance matters
- Ensure proper asset management and tracking including maintaining fixed asset registers depreciation schedules and periodic asset verification
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions ensuring timely invoicing collections and payments while maintaining strong cash management practices
- Identify financial risks and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
- Support payroll validation processes by reviewing payroll reports statutory deductions and ensuring alignment with financial records
- Prepare and present management reports and financial summaries to senior leadership highlighting key financial performance indicators and areas of concern
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records for compliance audit readiness and ease of retrieval
- Perform any other finance and accounting-related duties as may be assigned from time to time in line with the role
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
