About the position
The digital inclusion team is looking for a user research and design support staff based in Kenya. The work will feed into multiple projects supporting on the implementation of HCD methodologies from context exploration to ideation testing and monitoring of solutions.
Key duties & responsibilities
Contribute to the implementation of HCD methodologies
Contribute to the design and implementation of field work for exploration and user feedback gathering
Synthase insights from the field into journeys personas and design challenges
Contribute to the development of prototypes stating potential solutions
Support on capacity development activities around for HCD
Communication outreach and collaboration:
- Communicate findings through reports and presentations
- Engage with other teams to conduct research and share outputs
- Collaborate with members from the digital inclusion and climate action team
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in social sciences gender or related studies
- At least 3 years of experience applying HCD methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines;
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively verbally and in writing in English

Terms of employment
This is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi Kenya. The initial contract will be for one year subject to a probation period of three months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
This position is graded at BG06 level with a minimum basic salary of KES 168837 in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy). Required Skills:
Desired Qualifications Advanced degree in Computer Science Educational Technology Digital Learning Game Design Software Engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years experience in digital platform development and management. Demonstrated experience in educational games gamification or digital learning platforms. Experience integrating web-based applications and digital content ecosystems. Knowledge of intellectual property digital governance and data protection requirements. Experience working with schools youth-focused initiatives or CBC-aligned learning programs is highly desirable. Experience in Africa and/or CGIAR-related projects will be an added advantage. Reporting and Accountability The Consultant will report directly to Scientist II-Multifunctional Landscape. Duration and Hours Monday to Friday and on Weekends if there is need.
