Job Summary
VACANCY: HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Our member who is in the floriculture industry business located in Timau seeks to fill the position of Human Resource Officer that has arisen in their company. The position reports to the director. The member is a large-scale agricultural and floriculture enterprise specializing in the production and global export of premium fresh-cut flowers and high-yield agricultural produce with a workforce of over 500 permanent and seasonal employees.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition & Seasonal Labor Management -Oversee end-to-end recruitment onboarding and offboarding for permanent contractual and large-scale seasonal/casual workers. Develop effective workforce plans to meet fluctuating high-demand harvest and planting seasons.
Industrial & Employee Relations -Act as the primary liaison between farm management workers and labour unions. Handle disciplinary issues grievances and conflict resolution in a fair and objective manner. Promote a harmonious safe and highly productive work environment
Compliance OHS & Welfare -Ensure strict compliance with the Kenyan Employment Act Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA). Manage staff welfare committee meetings and trainings and any other training that is required at the organization.
Performance & Compensation Management -Coordinate staff performance appraisals and identify training and development needs. Manage the monthly payroll including the accurate tracking of casual labour days overtime and piece-rate pay using automated/biometric systems.
Desired Qualifications skills and experience;
The job holder must possess:
Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management Business Administration or related field.
Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management.
Membership to the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in good standing.
Minimum of five (5) years progressive HR experience preferably in the agricultural sector. Hands-on experience coordinating large labour forces in the agricultural horticultural or flower farming sectors is highly preferred.
Sound knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and HR best practices.
Strong leadership communication interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
High level of integrity confidentiality and professionalism.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems will be an added advantage.
