Job Summary

Our client is a fast-growing large-scale agricultural and food processing organization operating across Kenya and East Africa with a workforce of over 8000 employees. They are one of the most rapidly scaling operations in the region with a strong footprint in rural Kenya and an ambitious growth trajectory across the continent.

They are currently looking to hire two (2) HR Business Partners to be embedded within their farm operations team in Homa Bay serving as the on-the-ground people partners for a large and diverse blue-collar workforce. This is an opportunity to work in a high-impact fast-paced operational environment where HR is genuinely at the center of the business not on the periphery of it.

The HRBP will be embedded within farm operations working side by side with operations leaders and a large blue-collar workforce. Supported by a team of HRBP Associates you will own employee relations recruitment support onboarding records and compliance for your unit ensuring the organization remains a nurturing and high-performing environment for every employee.

Your two primary areas of focus will be:

  • Serving as the trusted people partner for a farm unit supporting managers and employees on the ground with employee relations engagement and day-to-day HR matters

  • Delivering efficient HR operations at the farm recruitment support onboarding accurate records and full compliance with labor laws and company policy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Partnering & Employee Relations

  • Act as the first point of contact for people matters within your farm unit advising line managers and supervisors on HR policy procedure and best practice

  • Manage employee relations cases grievances disciplinary matters and conflict resolution fairly consistently and in line with the Kenyan Employment Act

  • Champion employee engagement welfare and culture initiatives that keep the workplace nurturing and empowering

  • Support organizational and change initiatives at the farm working closely with operations leadership

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and supervision to HRBP Associates within your unit

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Support the talent acquisition team in filling open positions promptly coordinating interviews assessments and a smooth candidate experience at the farm

  • Run structured onboarding and induction for new joiners including blue-collar and casual workforce

  • Maintain accurate up-to-date employee records and support payroll inputs leave tracking and benefits administration

  • Ensure full compliance with labor laws statutory requirements and internal policies across all people processes

  • Support the use of HR systems and drive continuous improvement in HR processes and data quality

Capacity & Performance

  • Support the performance management cycle at the farm helping managers set goals give feedback and track team performance

  • Identify training and development needs and coordinate with the Learning & Development function to build capability across the workforce.


Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Social Sciences or a related field.

  • 46 years of HR experience ideally as an HR Generalist or HRBP with solid exposure to employee relations recruitment and HR operations.

  • Experience in a fast-paced operational or rapidly scaling environment exposure to agriculture manufacturing processing or a similar blue-collar workforce is a strong advantage.

  • Sound working knowledge of the Kenyan Employment Act and general HR best practice.

  • Comfortable working on-site in a farm environment and engaging directly with a large diverse workforce.

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is compulsory fluency in Luo is a significant advantage given the organisations strong presence in Western Kenya.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • A structured problem-solver with a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Good comfort with HR systems and data ability to keep accurate records and work with numbers.

  • IHRM membership and/or CHRP certification is a plus.
