Job Summary
Position Title: Heavy Structural Steel Project Coordinator
Department: Projects
Reports To: Projects Department Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Eligibility: Open to Kenyan nationals only
Job Purpose
The Heavy Structural Steel Project Coordinator is responsible for planning coordinating and delivering structural steel projects from contract award through fabrication delivery erection and final handover. The role ensures projects are completed safely on time within budget and to the required quality standards while serving as the primary liaison between clients consultants contractors and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the execution of structural steel projects including fabrication logistics site erection and handover.
Develop and monitor project schedules budgets and resource plans to ensure timely project delivery.
Coordinate engineering procurement fabrication and site teams to achieve project objectives.
Monitor project costs manage variations claims and contractual documentation and report commercial risks.
Review structural drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate material procurement and delivery to support fabrication and installation schedules.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress quality safety and compliance with company and statutory standards.
Prepare regular project progress reports for management and maintain effective communication with clients consultants and contractors.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations quality standards and health and safety requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Mechanical Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
Project Management certification is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 710 years experience managing heavy structural steel projects within the structural steel fabrication or construction industry.
Must have experience delivering projects such as factories warehouses industrial plants commercial buildings PVC Installations and other structural steel works.
Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication erection and construction methodologies.
Experience managing project budgets schedules contractors and multiple stakeholders.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to interpret structural and fabrication drawings.
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes welding erection and quality control.
Good understanding of construction contracts project planning cost control and risk management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project; experience with AutoCAD Tekla Structures or similar software is an advantage.
Strong leadership communication problem-solving negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
