Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Accounts Intern to provide support to the finance function. You will assist with reconciliations invoice capture documentation control and audit readiness building practical exposure to the full accounting cycle. All work prepared by the Accounts Intern is reviewed and signed off by the Senior Accountant before posting submission or payment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

Financial Reconciliation Support

• Prepare working schedules and supporting data for monthly bank reconciliations for review by the Senior Accountant.
• Assist with supplier reconciliations matching supplier statements to ledger balances and flagging unmatched or outstanding items.
• Prepare supporting data for monthly VAT output and input reconciliations.
• Assist the finance team in reconciling key balance sheet accounts at month-end.

Accounts Payable Support

• Receive verify and organise supplier invoices and supporting documentation.
• Match supplier invoices against purchase orders LPOs and goods received notes escalating variances to the Accounts Assistant or Senior Accountant.
• Assist with the capture of non-trade supplier invoices in the Odoo ERP system subject to review before posting.
• Assemble payment request forms (PRFs) with complete supporting documentation for review by the Senior Accountant.
• Assist with the compilation of landed cost data for imported goods for verification by the Senior Accountant.

Operational Support and Reporting

• Support month-end closing by preparing schedules and collating source documents.
• Assist in the preparation of receivables aging reports and follow-up trackers.
• Participate in stock takes assisting with counts recording and variance listings.
• Maintain organised and up-to-date financial files for audit purposes ensuring documents are complete and retrievable.
• Assist in preparing documentation required for internal and external audits.
• Attend team meetings and training sessions and maintain a structured learning log for review at the mid-point and end of the internship.
• Perform any other finance duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Commerce or a related field.
• CPA / ACCA Certification or actively pursuing will be an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles reconciliations and the accounts payable cycle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to Odoo or a similar ERP system is an advantage.
• A prior internship or attachment in a finance environment is an advantage.
