JOB DESCRIPTION: DRIVER

Job Purpose

The driver is responsible for the safe timely and efficient transportation of products materials and authorized personnel. The role ensures that deliveries are completed according to schedules products are handled appropriately company vehicles are maintained in good condition and all transportation activities comply with traffic regulations company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation and Distribution

1. Safely transport finished products to customers distributors depots and other designated locations.

2. Ensure timely deliveries in accordance with assigned schedules and routes.

3. Verify loaded products against delivery notes invoices and dispatch documentation before departure.

4. Ensure products are properly secured and protected during transportation.

5. Obtain and return all required delivery documentation and proof of delivery.

6. Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth loading and unloading operations.

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance

1. Conduct daily vehicle inspections before during and after trips.

2. Check vehicle systems including brakes lights tires fuel oil coolant and safety equipment.

3. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure the vehicle is in roadworthy condition at all times.

4. Report vehicle defects breakdowns accidents or maintenance requirements promptly.

5. Monitor vehicle service schedules and support preventive maintenance activities.

Compliance and Safety

1. Comply with all traffic laws transport regulations and company driving policies.

2. Ensure adherence to vehicle loading limits and road safety requirements.

3. Promote safe driving practices and maintain a clean driving record.

4. Ensure all required vehicle licenses permits and insurance documentation are valid and available.

5. Report accidents incidents and safety concerns immediately.

Inventory and Documentation

1. Maintain accurate records of deliveries mileage fuel consumption and vehicle inspections.

2. Verify quantities delivered and received by customers.

3. Report discrepancies shortages damages or delivery challenges promptly.

4. Ensure proper handling and accountability of company assets and products.

General Duties

1. Support warehouse and logistics operations when required.

2. Assist with loading and unloading activities as necessary.

3. Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Ø Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.

Ø Additional training in defensive driving fleet management or road safety will be an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications

Ø Valid Kenyan Driving License with the appropriate class for commercial vehicle operation.

Ø Certificate of Good Conduct.

Ø Valid Occupational Test Certificate where applicable.

Experience

Ø Minimum of 3 years experience driving commercial vehicles preferably within the FMCG beverage manufacturing or distribution sector.

Ø Proven experience in product distribution and route management.

Ø Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
