Animal Alternative Technologies (AAT) is a recently founded
biotechnology B2B start-up based in the University of Cambridge. We are
engineering a scalable, end-to-end Cultured Meat production system,
including bioprocesses, enabling technologies, software, hardware and
raw materials to empower food producers all over the world to make their
own cultivated meats tailored local tastes and desired specifications.
Our mission is to democratize access to sustainable food and tackle some
of the world's biggest sustainability and food security challenges.

Tasks

We re looking for an experienced leader with a broad commercial profile in the biotech, life science or pharma industry who excels in financial leadership. As a senior executive, you will play a pivotal role in defining the trajectory of the company and be a key advisor to the founders and leadership team.

This is a hands-on role that requires somebody who is both strategically and tactically strong. The scope involves coordination and management of all financial topics including market analysis, modelling, budgeting, accounting, payroll, and fundraising. Alongside this, you take a leading role in the legal framework and negotiation of commercial partnerships and agreements with some of the biggest food producers in the world, alongside building the commercial model.

Further responsibilities:

Support the founders at a strategic and operational level to secure and structure large-scale partnerships, LOIs and agreements with corporate food producers globally. This includes
partnering with legal support on contract structures and financial agreements.

  • Lead all internal and external financial matters from Accounting, Payroll, Budgeting,
    Financial Analysis, Financial Modelling and support on extensive future fundraising activities
  • Manage short-term and long-term financial objectives and operational analytics including developing a commercial financial model
  • Own internal business operations and administration including overseeing HR
    & internal financial, tax and other relevant topics
  • Assist in the application and process management of grant applications and other fundraising activities
  • Commercial support for the founding team on business development activities with
    prospective food partners, sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts

Requirements

  • Finance & Commercial Strategy: At least 8+ years of relevant financial and commercial experience, ideally coming from the food, biotech, life science or pharmaceutical industries
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or other relevant areas
  • Previous experience working within one of the following functions preferred: Top
    Tier Consultancy, VC-funded start-ups & scale-up (BioTech / Food
    preferred) or, multi-national food or biotech organisations
  • Robust financial acumen and the ability to build and execute a financial
    strategy for an early-stage venture from the launch phase to scaling
  • A technical background or affinity towards cultured meat & biotechnology is highly preferred
  • Operational and decision-making management experience from within the food/biotech
    industry, including multi-national companies
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity. You fluctuate seamlessly between hands-on
    operational tasks while navigating through the uncertainty and thinking
    strategically
