Our client a growing real estate owner/investor/developer with $500M AUM seeks a detailoriented experienced and proactive Vice President of Finance & Accounting to establish a bestinclass institutional grade backoffice with systems processes and platforms to help scale their expanding portfolio.
The ideal candidate has 10 years of experience in auditing for Big 4 accounting firms supporting real estate clients or experience working in a similar real estate private equity or family office environment. They re a subject matter expert with full ownership of finance and accounting reporting directly to firm leadership.
The VP of Finance & Accounting has three main areas of responsibility: accounting compliance and reporting. Initially the role will focus on the implementation of real estate accounting best practices and technologies to level up the finance & accounting function.
This is a newly created role as the firm is choosing to bring this function inhouse after receiving support from a subsidiary company. The position is located in the firm s Beverly Hills office which is highly productive & collaborative and back to working inhouse fulltime.
A day in the life of the successful VP of Finance & Accounting includes but is not limited to:
- Preparing jointventure level financial statements and propertylevel financial statements as well as consolidated statements for investors
- Reviewing financial statements prepared by 3rd parties
- Preparing cash flow projections budgets draw schedules capital calls and distributions
- Coordinating variance analysis and document differences between actual and budget
- Additional Responsibilities include:
- Debt Compliance
- Propertylevel debt and equity tracking
- Capital account tracking and reconciliation
- Corporate and propertylevel financial analysis
- Budgeting/forecasting
- Ownership of K1 process along with their preferred vendor
Requirements
The ideal Vice President of Finance & Accounting possesses the following characteristics or experiences:
- 10 years of accounting experience focused on the real estate industry fund and/or property accounting experience big 4 background
- CPA preferred but not required
- Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or related
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to multitask and collaborate across departments
