In early 2022, we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Women s Leadership, a 30,000+ sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity, events, and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the world s greatest challenges.

Summary:

Vital Voices is seeking a talented security professional to perform the day-to-day threat monitoring, global trend analysis and safety travel logistics for Vital Voices and our network. As a global NGO based in the United States Vital Voices employees have frequent trips to medium and high-risk international destinations to do our work. The Travel, Safety and Security Specialist will play a key role in managing staff and network travel security. They will play a key role in mitigating any risk to the Vital Voices executives, staff and network members while keeping our busy travel schedule on track in partnership with the program teams. The Travel, Safety, and Security Specialist works directly with key members of the senior leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Staff and Network Travel: In partnerships with a cross functional team including Operations, People Operations, and program teams, this role will manage the internal travel approval process, lead protection, logistics, and insurance coordination for all staff and network member travel
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct security assessments for staff and network members traveling for Vital Voices programming, events, awards, etc. Research, analyze and develop real-time intelligence reports and security briefs for Vital Voices key stakeholders.
  • Crisis Monitoring: Monitor emergency situations as they develop internationally and partner with Vital Voices program teams when travel is requested.
  • Logistics: Serve as daily point of contact and liaise with VV staff during travel abroad. Respond to on the ground safety and security concerns. Respond and resolve Vital Voices staff inquiries/issues.
  • Vendor Management: Identify and liaise with external security firm. Manage and partner with external travel agency.
  • After Action Reporting: Lead after action reporting for key projects across the organization as a part of our continuous improvement process. Assess security protocols and overall execution for Vital Voices signature events to provide a rapid post-project assessment.
  • DE&I Commitment: Embrace and model the Vital Voices guiding principles, values, investment, and leadership models with the goal of supporting Vital Voices organization culture and success.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in international relations or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant work experience required, OR Graduate degree in international relations or a related field, plus 4 years of relevant work experience preferred. Military experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Expertise in conflict impacted areas required
  • Outstanding record of academic and/or professional achievement
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience working on global women s issues, refugee issues, and human rights is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines, sometimes under difficult or challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and self-awareness.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), social networking tools, and database software (i.e., Salesforce).
  • Security clearance, preferred
  • Experience living, working, or studying in conflict impacted areas, preferred.

This position is a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, DC. All staff are expected to be in the office twice a week. We are not considering remote candidates at this time. Vital Voices does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position. If and when it is safe to travel, domestic and international travel up to 20% may be required for the position.

The starting salary range for this position is $73,000-$94,000 based on experience and ability to have broad impact early. The compensation package includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, and generous PTO including wellness flex days, generous parental leave, sabbatical time, and volunteer leave as well as short- and long-term disability, life insurance, HSA, EAP, and a professional development stipend.
