Join an award winning Library!Schaumburg Township District Library has a temporary, part-time Teen Music Production Mentor positions open. We are looking for an energetic, competent and detail-oriented Teen Music Production Mentor to support our Youth Department.
NOTE: This part-time position is temporary and will end on June 30th, 2024. The position is scheduled for 4 hours per week on Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm and Saturdays from 9:30am-11:30am. The schedule is based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. The Teen Music Production Mentor comes with the rate of pay of $15.00/hour.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist Teen Music Producer and Teen Librarians to develop program activities.
• Teach music production using Library software such as Logic Pro and Fruity Loops and equipment such as laptops, MIDI controllers, and recording devices.
• Create and host a time for teens to drop-in for recording assistance and to publish music through the Library Record Label.
• Ensure the space is set up at the beginning and cleaned up at the conclusion of the programs.
• Promote Library programming, activities, and opportunities for teens.
• Compile statistics on Teen Music Production attendance and attendee growth.
• Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing with patrons and staff at various site locations.
• Represent the library in a professional manner and abide by the staff policies and procedures of the library.
• Attend meetings and training as required or requested.
• Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills &Competencies
Ability to use workplace technology including email, internet, intranet, and Library database systems; and position specific technologies including recording equipment such as microphones and MIDI controllers, and recording software such as Logic Pro, Fruity Loops, and other beat making programs.
Education & Experience
• A current High School Junior, Senior, or College student.
• Have at least 1 year of experience in music recording programs languages such as Logic Pro and Fruity Loops (Preferred)
• A valid Illinois Driver’s License is required for this job.
