About this Job:

Job Title and Summary:

Tax Manager: The Tax Manager role is responsible for managing staff client assignments and projects and delivering a highquality service. Additional responsibilities include assisting with overseeing office operations and staff client service activities quality reporting production revenue budget and forecasting; and working in conjunction with the Senior Manager/ Principal on maximizing performance including production revenue maximization and staff development. This includes coaching advising and supporting team members in meeting client and selfdevelopment expectations. In addition the position will be responsible for following and enforcing all firm and staff policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and respectful leadership to associates through planning of appropriate staffing levels; interviewing selecting orienting and training; communicating performance expectations & providing feedback on performance (semiannual basis) recognition/celebration coaching counseling reports and/or discipline; creating career growth opportunities and associate development plans.
  • Understand skillsets and capabilities of Associates and monitor and review work products that they prepare and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the process.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients.
    • Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services including planning research

      compliance and general business activities.

    • Manage client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance.
    • Promote the Firm to clients business associates and through community events.
    • Prepare tax returns and provide detailed review and analysis of tax returns.
    • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a nontechnical manner to facilitate

      communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the

      client and the firm.

    • Reviewing research findings and ensuring conclusions are consistent with firm policies and

      professional standards.

    • Assist with new business development extended service and tax issue recognition for existing

      clients.

    • Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient in computer software programs.
  • Retain general knowledge regarding FASB and IRC
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related discipline required.
  • Preferred MBA or related degree.
  • CPA or EA
  • Preferred 710 years of related tax experience.
  • Preferred 35 years of related management experience. Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
