Systems Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Working as a member of a sizeable operations team, you shall lead, coordinate, manage and support the operations and maintenance of multi-user computer systems to achieve and maintain optimal performance and efficiencies, and you'll be relied upon to anticipate problems & take decisive action. Job duties include: (i) carrying out systems administration and security functions, such as implementing STIGs, creating user accounts, creating administrator accounts, installing/deploying system-wide software, harden applications and operating systems, conducting backup and recovery, and install, configure, and maintain operating systems; (ii) monitoring, managing, and optimizing systems resource, such as CPU usage, disk usage, response times, and allocating and managing mass storage space; (iii) Identify [and respond to] Tier-3 problems and conduct diagnostics to analyze and resolve the problem; (iv) creates and maintains system specifications, policy, procedure, and other job-related documentation to meet standards, mandates, and requirements, and properly document trouble tickets and problem resolution; (v) interacting with end users, development teams, and others; (vi) evaluate vendors' hardware and software, provide synopsis of findings pros and cons and provide purchasing recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Minimum of 2 years of Linux or CentOS experience within the last 4 years.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and successful experience:
  • Maintaining applications built on a PostgreSQL or Oracle database.
  • Writing scripts to automate activities and alerts, including: monitor system services, resources, data mine logs, etc.
  • Writing SQL and PL/SQL to generate system data reports, modify data, etc.
  • Building and managing SQL servers.
  • Troubleshooting systems and applications issues, including Java, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Maintaining systems in AWS cloud environments (Azure experience is helpful)
  • Working with Firewalls and AWS Security Groups
  • Administering key and certificate management utilities and cryptography libraries, such as Keytool and OpenSSL.
  • Coding and applying XML to store and transport information

EDUCATION:

• Bachelors

OR

• • Associates with a total of 8 years of relevant experience
  • HS/GED with a total of 10 years of relevant experience

CERTIFICATION(S):

• DoD 8570 Compliant holding current IAT level II baseline certification (Security+ CE, GICSP, SSCP, etc.)
• Desired Certifications (some or all)
  • Linux+
  • Current RHCSA/RHCE
  • MCSA
  • VMware Certified Professional
