POSITION SUMMARY:
The Subway Shift Manager supervises the operations of a shift to ensure that food safety, cleanliness, product preparation, and inventory control standards are maintained. A major component of this position is Exceptional customer service. Various partnership discounts are now available. This may include scheduling and supervising staff. We are looking to fill this position.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
1. Crew member exhibits a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders.
2. Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to guests accurately.
3. Uses Point of Sale system/cash register (cashier) to record the order and compute the amount of the bill. Collects payment from guests and makes change.
4. Performs Cash-In Procedure- accounting for all forms of money, bread, etc., during the shift.
5. Prepares food neatly, according to formula, and in a timely manner.
6. Checks products in sandwich unit area and restocks items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.
7. Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up.
8. Cleans and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image. Understands and adheres to the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning.
9. Understands and adheres to all quality standards, procedures and formulas as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual: Daily Procedures.
10. Maintains a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual: Daily Procedures.
11. Trains newer or less experienced Sandwich Artists in their tasks and responsibilities.
12. Practices inventory control standards.
13. Inspects storage facilities and equipment throughout a shift to ensure that equipment is in proper working order.
14. Schedules and supervises staff as needed.
15. Performs light paperwork duties as assigned.
16. Completes University of Subway courses as directed.
PREREQUISITES
Education: Some high school or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year experience in a restaurant environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instruction.
Physical: Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized POS system/cash register (cashier). Position requires bending, walk in, and standing the entire workday. Must be able to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
