Role

We are actively seeking a talented Scala Developer with a focus on Big Data technologies to join our team. As a Scala Developer specializing in Big Data you will play a key role in designing and implementing scalable and efficient data processing solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Scala proficiency in Apache Spark and a strong understanding of cloudbased data processing tools such as Amazon EMR and AWS Glue. Additionally Python skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in the Scala programming language showcasing a deep understanding of its functional programming capabilities and the broader ecosystem.

• Utilize extensive experience in developing optimizing and maintaining applications using Apache Spark applying expertise in Sparks core functionalities and libraries for effective big data processing.

• Handson experience with Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR) including the ability to set up configure and manage EMR clusters for the efficient execution of Spark applications.

• Develop and update data pipelines using AWS Glue written in Scala or Python.

• Demonstrate competence in Python programming particularly in writing and integrating Python scripts with Scala and Spark applications.

• Implement scalable data processing pipelines and handle largescale datasets.

• Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data processing pipelines to optimize overall system efficiency.

• Work closely with crossfunctional teams including data scientists analysts and other developers to understand data requirements and implement effective solutions.

• Mentor and guide data and information engineers within the company.

• Participate in any other initiatives running under the umbrella of Engineering like training talks and estimates in the Data Engineering domain.

• Influence data engineering best practices within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field.

• Demonstrated expertise as a Data Engineer specializing in Scala programming emphasizing the creation of scalable and maintainable applications and proficiency in Apache Spark.

• Handson experience with Amazon EMR and AWS Glue.

• Version Control: Proficient in Git or other version control systems.

• Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
