Our client Okanagan Urban Contractors is a West Kelowna based company offering general contracting services including Custom home construction residential renovations commercial tenant improvements. Known for their reliability and excellent workmanship they are committed to providing high quality construction and service to their customers. With each project that they take on they strive to develop a longterm relationship with clients through respect transparency and timely service which is completed on time and on budget.

They have an immediate need for an experienced Site Supervisor to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible to manage the daytoday site operations and will be responsible to ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with their contracted scope of work to ensure timely completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in property improvements either residential or commercial must be detail oriented able to problem solve and enjoy leading a team.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Review construction documentation and site conditions to assess project costs and risks;
  • Develop and maintain controls for project schedule cost change order tracking subcontractor management and jobsite safety to ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget;
  • Lead the project by example and keeping resources focused;
  • Manage labour equipment materials and subcontractors to ensure all are onsite as required;
  • Meet project objectives schedules policies procedures and performance standards in accordance with company objectives;
  • Complete handson site work with tools as needed (carpentry back framing etc);
  • Read and interpret construction drawings plans layouts details and specifications as well as troubleshoot details to ensure construction is going according to plan;
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities;
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions;
  • Identify any subcontractor noncompliance in regards safety and/or quality standards;
  • Identify any issues in the construction progress and communicating them to the project manager for resolution;
  • Ensure all work orders and repair requests are processed in a timely fashion;
  • Coordinate logistics planning ordering and pickup/ delivery of materials supplies and equipment to the site;
  • Attend weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate the work for the week;
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.


Requirements

  • 3 years experience specifically working in residential and commercial construction;
  • Experience working in carpentry is required;
  • Previous renovation experience is considered an asset;
  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate is preferred;
  • A high level of building science knowledge will be required;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Gold Seal Certification considered a strong asset;
  • Postsecondary industry related diplomas or degrees are considered an asset;
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/blueprints;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and adjust to changing timelines;
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and work on several projects at once;
  • Ability to maintain a highquality work with a strong attention to detail;
  • An indepth understanding of the construction industry operations and processes;
  • Knowledge of local quality safety and health guidelines for construction job sites;
  • A solid understanding of current building codes;
  • You will be required to supply your own reliable transportation.


We anticipate offering the successful candidate a base pay of approximately $35.00 to $45.00/hour dependent upon previous experience and organizational success.

This is a fulltime opportunity that comes with an excellent total compensation package. Travel in this role is limited and would only be required between the cities of Penticton and Vernon.
