• Responsibilities:
  
• Provide sign language interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings including classrooms meetings and extracurricular activities.
  
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa ensuring accurate communication and understanding between students teachers and staff.
  
• Collaborate with educators administrators and support staff to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and support strategies for students with hearing loss.
  
• Advocate for the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing and promote inclusive practices within the school community.
  
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments and interactions with students and stakeholders.
  
• Stay informed about relevant laws regulations and best practices in the educational field interpreting and deaf education.
  

Requirements

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g. RID certification) or equivalent credentials.
  
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English with the ability to accurately interpret between the two languages.
  
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is preferred.
  
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish rapport and collaborate effectively with students educators and parents.
  
• Knowledge of deaf culture educational terminology and specialized vocabulary related to academic subjects.
  
• Commitment to supporting students academic social and emotional development through effective communication and advocacy
