Please Note: Candidate Must know how to do a Hipot test use an oscilloscope use/know how to use a DC Megger and have a great understanding of circuitry (control and power)


Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Sr. Transformer Test Engineer and TesVField Service Team Leader the Test Technician will perform the following responsibilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Tests and troubleshoots transformers rectifiers power supplies (digital and analog) circuits PLCs and equipment using multimeters oscilloscopes temperature probes chart recorders watt meters and other related equipment.
  • Performs Commissioning installations and preventative Maintenance. complex troubleshooting problem analysis and productspecific service.
  • Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision and work well with other individuals and teams.
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed to service equipment approximately 4050% of the time after probationary training has been completed.
  • Conducts equipment and/or unit startups and performs field service activities including consulting with engineering as needed to adhere to specifications.
  • Participates in quality inspection activities.
  • Documents test and service reports.
  • Works with voltages in the range of 480vac l 3800vac and occasionally up to 35kV and large MVA units and will assist in medium and high voltage testing.



Requirements

Basic requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Twoyear technical degree in electronics electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 2 years of test/troubleshooting experience in the field of Industrial Electronics Power Electronics is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming software and hardware is a plus.
  • Electrician (E2) is a plus.

Required Skills Competencies Authorities and Training Needs:


Must be familiar with the concept and application of the following; actual work experience in at least one of these areas is preferred:
  • Reactor and transformer applications.
  • Singlephase and threephase AC power.
  • AC/DC rectification and SCR (Thyristor) control.
  • Test and calibration of industrial power equipment.
  • Strong ability to read electronic schematics and comprehend specifications.
  • Experience using industrial instrumentation (electromechanical meters and gauges).
  • Good communication abilities interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
  • Computer literacy using worksheets and word processing as well as customized data acquisition software.
  • Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision and work well with other individuals and teams.
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed to service equipment approximately 4050% of the time
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to make PLC program adjustments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of programmer logic controllers (PLC) programming and hardware embedded applications software and hardware is a plus

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis & stand for approximately 95% of the day.
  • Lift carry and hook up large cables.
  • Bend. squat. stoop kneel frequently as needed throughout the day.
