Our client is a leader in packaged goods in Canada

The Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy will have high-visibility to senior management and will support the VP, Business Performance and Corporate Strategy with the long-term strategy, value creation initiatives and M&A activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support processes around the 5 year long-term strategy for executive leadership team ( ELT ) and board approval
  • Lead and support the annual strategic refresh with ELT and the board
  • Lead the development and assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Strategic KPI s with finance, key business partners and executive leadership
  • Lead and support the research, analysis, modelling and recommendations through a combination of data analysis and business critical thinking across a variety of cross-functional initiatives and business development projects driving the Strategic Pillars of the long-term strategy
  • Support the VP, Business Performance and Corporate Strategy in the M&A function in the entire end to end process. This includes the continued development of the M&A playbook and participate in the evaluation of acquisition opportunities by conducting research, analysis, developing financial and valuation models and preparing presentations for recommendations to the ELT and Board and participation in closing negotiations. This role will also be a project lead on all M&A due diligence and integrations.

What you bring:

Required:

  • University degree in relevant field (Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics)
  • Experience with M&A
  • 5+ years working experience through M&A, management consulting, corporate strategy functions
  • M&A deal experience from target screening, valuations, diligence and integration
  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to simplify complex/abstract ideas and design and recommend effective, creative and innovative solutions
  • Advanced skills with financial modelling and valuation
  • Ability to effectively engage with and present to all levels of management
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration with diverse groups
  • Deadline driven, organized and ability to multitask
  • Advanced user of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred

  • MBA
  • Experience with corporate strategy or management consulting
  • Experience with process improvement/project management is an asset
  • Toolkit of strategic business tools, strong finance base and highly effective communication skills including effective PowerPoint storytelling and strategic analysis and frameworks
  • Experience with systems (Power BI) and data (large databases, consumer research)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong team player that is an independent thinker
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to drive effective risk-taking

Bachelor's degree in administration, finance or economics and three years of brokerage experience or any other relevant combination of education and experience CFA, an asset Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally The successful completion of the following Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) courses is required: Canadian Securities Course Conduct and Practices Handbook Course Proficiency with Windows environment and Excel and Word software programs
