Job Title : Senior Aerospace Design & Analysis Engineer
6 to 12 months Contract
Senior Design Engineer to be a part of the Sustaining Engineering and Product Support team.
Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Aerospace Design and design & analysis dispositions of Composite and/or metallic components.
Experience in stress analysis using classical methods and commercial FEA tools
Perform structural analysis and concessions independently and supervise entry level analysts
Essential skills:
- Excellent knowledge of Aerospace
- Experience of CATIA V5 is essential with a good ability in 3D modelling and 2D drawing work.
- Experience with GD&T
- Good experience of aerospace Composite (honeycomb) /Metallic materials and manufacturing processes
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office
- Customer focused/Ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers
- Understanding of processes: ECRs, Concessions.
- Awareness of A/C industry standards, regulations and qualification requirements
- Good English verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work to tight, demanding deadlines and customer demands
- Ability to work effectively within an integrated project team
Experience in scripting using Matlab, VB,TCL/Tk, Python is an added advantage
Knowledge of Hand Calculations, Standards and Design codes is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Engineer MRB
Develop concepts for repair design schemes, layout etc for sustaining engineering/MRB.
Responsible for the manufacturing and supply of Large Complex, Structural Wing Assemblies (Leading Edge, Trailing Edge and Outer Wing Box), Metallic Machined Components, (eg Interspar Ribs, Trailing Edge Ribs), Sub-assemblies and Wing Systems, for both Single Aisle and Long Range Programs. This also includes the Supply Chain.
Senior Design Engineer to be a part of the Sustaining Engineering and Product Support team.
The role is intended to rapidly develop into an MRB Design Signatory Role in order to review / approve Dispositions for the presented non-conforming products via the Concession and Minor Deviation processes, therefore previous knowledge and experience of Wing and MRB support is required.
To work within a team to provide Design Engineering Support for Concessions and Minor Deviations for Operations and Supplier requests.
develop appropriate technical solutions for operational non conformances which are compliant with all relevant Customer Design Standards and Airworthiness Requirements, in conjunction with the Sustaining Engineering Design and Stress teams.
To work in co-operation with the wider team and other functional areas of the company to achieve local and overall business objectives.
To be able to liaise with customers Engineering Support Teams at the working level.
To provide Design Engineering Support, when requested, out of normal working hours.
Ensure that relevant stakeholders have the right information at the right time, through pro-active communication.
Ensure compliance to the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
Support the Engineering Team Leader and Lead Design Engineers in all business activities, eg KPI compilation, audit preparation and corrective actions, start of shift meetings.
Applicants should have a sound background in Aerospace Engineering and Manufacturing with experience in Metallic and Composite (secondary structure) Components and Assemblies.
Ability to develop technical solutions for operational non-conformance, compliant with customer requirements within agreed timescales.
Relevant Degree, Qualification or proven experience within the Aerospace Sector.
Potential to attain Design Signatory status within a short timescale.
Understanding of Engineering Processes and Systems.
Experience of Aerospace Quality Management Systems.
Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers.
Knowledge of CATIA, 3DVIA or other similar Design Tool Packages.
Awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements.
Analysis Engineer MRB:
Concession Stress support across multiple sites
Work with global teams to understand project scope including analysis domain, boundary condition, material models, type of analysis etc.
Active Coordinator for multiple groups that include Design, Aero, Materials and Structures teams for Project specific inputs
Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple projects
Review technical presentations, interpret the results and present the same to Customer
Expertise in dealing with Design and Technical Discipline reviews
Responsible for ensuring 100% quality and on-time delivery and honor committed planned schedules
Conduct project review meetings to share the lessons learned and best practices to the team to improve the quality
Responsible for providing alternative solutions on field issues
Responsible for process improvements by developing Automation tools
Work on complex CAE problems to assist product development
Stress analysis (Static, F&DT) of A350 & A400 Airbus methods
F&DT stress analysis of concession affected metallic components using Airbus methods.
Expertise in handling various structural analysis tools preferably ISAMI & PATRAN/NASTRAN
2D & 3D Finite Element modeling of simple, moderate and complex components and assemblies
Linear and non-linear static stress analysis (Geometric, Material and contact Linearity) using PATRAN/NASTRAN
Strength, stability and Durability of components
Damage tolerance analysis to estimate fracture life
