Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer on a contract basis for approximately 6 months to a year (could become permanent also) at their Charleston South Carolina facility.

You will be a part of a globally recognized company that offers technologically innovative solutions for automotive and industrial applications. As the Contract Quality Engineer you will use your strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills to maintain successful quality relationships with suppliers and customers through proactive activities and problem resolution. You will act as the suppliers and customers main quality interface. This includes managing assigned suppliers and customers satisfaction metrics while implementing successful corrective/preventive actions and leading teams in quality improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supplier / Customer quality contact for assigned production areas including NonConforming Material Report (NCMR) Corrective Action (CAR) and Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) resolution
  • Customer/Supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) coordination and submittal/approval.
  • Participate in crossfunctional problem solving teams (CIP) and lead teams in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct/Lead designed experiments capability study analysis and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Aid in component and tooling/fixture design and improvement.
  • Gaging testing and inspection of materials.
  • Update company quality documents on an as needed basis. This includes Process Flow PFMEA and Control Plan documents.
  • Conduct qualityrelated training of company personnel.
  • Provide direction to Quality Technicians as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%.

Requirements

  • Four year Engineering degree preferred; BSME preferred.
  • Experience working in a QS9000/TS16949 environment.
  • Strong background in statistics a plus.
