In the role of Quality Control Inspector you will serve as a cornerstone in upholding the integrity and adherence to regulatory standards within our steel bridge fabrication operations. Tasked with ensuring the highest level of quality in our products you will report directly to the Quality Control Supervisor forming an integral part of our quality assurance team. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct meticulous inspections across various stages of the fabrication process encompassing raw materials works in progress and the final output. By scrutinizing each component against the detailed specifications delineated in shop drawings industry codes and regulatory mandates you will contribute significantly to the consistent delivery of toptier products. Your unwavering attention to detail and unwavering dedication to upholding quality standards will be paramount in fortifying our reputation for excellence in the field of steel bridge fabrication.


Duties and amp; Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation of Drawings and Specifications: Read and comprehend shop fabrication drawings specifications and codes that are pertinent to steel bridge fabrication including those for highway bridges railroad bridges state DOTs welding bolting cleaning and painting.
  • Inspection Procedures: Thoroughly inspect raw materials comparing them to ASTM codes and validate product dimensions against shop drawings. Visually inspect welds for compliance with code requirements.
  • Training and Certification: Complete mandatory training testing and certification for nondestructive examination (NDE) techniques. Maintain Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through companypaid training and recertification programs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of quality control inspections complete inspection reports and review and authorize NDE/testing purchase orders (POs). Serve as an intermediary with external inspectors.
  • Departmental Support: Perform all necessary tasks to support the daily operations of the Quality Assurance (QA) department including acting as a point of contact for shop supervision management and welding personnel.


Requirements:

  • AWS CWI Certification: Possess AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret shop fabrication drawings AWS D1.1 and D1.5 Code Criteria and other relevant specifications.
  • Effective Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including shop supervision management and welding personnel.
