Job Description: Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer
Position Overview:
A Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the quality reliability and usability of software products and systems. They are responsible for designing and implementing testing processes identifying defects and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues. The QA Engineer employs various testing methodologies and tools to validate software functionality and performance ensuring it meets the specified requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Test Planning and Strategy:
Develop test plans test cases and test strategies based on project requirements and specifications.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project goals user requirements and acceptance criteria.
2. Test Execution and Documentation:
Execute manual and automated tests to verify software functionality performance and usability.
Document test results track defects and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
Ensure proper documentation of testing processes methodologies and outcomes for future reference.
3. Test Automation:
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks and tools.
Continuously enhance test automation scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration and deployment pipeline.
4. Defect Management:
Identify report and track defects using defect tracking tools such as JIRA Bugzilla or similar.
Work closely with developers to investigate troubleshoot and resolve reported issues.
Verify defect fixes and perform regression testing to ensure no regression issues are introduced.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including developers product managers and business analysts.
Communicate test results progress updates and risk assessments to project stakeholders.
Participate in project meetings sprint planning and retrospectives to provide QA insights and feedback.
6. Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with industry best practices emerging technologies and QA trends.
Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of QA methodologies.
Actively participate in peer reviews knowledge sharing sessions and training programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience as a QA Engineer or similar role in software development.
Proficiency in testing methodologies test automation tools (e.g. Selenium Appium) and defect tracking systems.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) agile methodologies and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Ability to prioritize tasks manage workload efficiently and thrive in a fastpaced environment.
Certification in software testing (e.g. ISTQB) is a plus.
