Overview:

The Strategy and Transformation team supports the CEO and senior management of the Bank ABC to shape structure and deliver the banks strategic initiatives.

The strategic agenda involves considerable investment in digital platforms including Client Onboarding Client Lifecycle Management Supply Chain Finance Trade Finance and Payments and Cash Management Solutions. In addition the team are responsible for the implementation of regulatory mandatory change such as LIBOR GDPR and Basel as well internal optimization projects and replacement of core/key systems.

The team work closely with functional stakeholders and with the Group Change Management/Product owners based at the main Group HO in Bahrain.

Key objectives of the role:

  • To assist the Programme Manager to deliver the objectives of the various workstreams making up the payments and cash management portfolio. Typical projects would include analysis and implementation of digital online payment channel regulatory change requirements such as confirmation of payee and SEPA Instants and engaging with colleagues to establish an optimal operating model for client support across all our digital platforms.
  • Initial proposition on the roadmap will be focused on payments and cash management. Future developments may include collections and liquidity management solutions in addition to rollout of a new core banking payments hub for advanced processing and billing capability
  • The project manager may lead on specific workstreams or deployments within the portfolio and will also be required to deputize as needed for the Programme Manager at portfolio level
  • Solutions will be deployed in the UK as well as to our EU Subsidiary with branches in Frankfurt Milan and Paris. The solution form part of a wider Digital Transformation programme being rolled out across the Bank ABC Group. Therefore stakeholder management with colleagues different levels of the organization and in multiple locations will be key to success
  • The project manager will be required to deliver projects and manage change in line with the banks strategic objectives and adhering to Group Change Management standards which is a combination of waterfall agile and hybrid methodologies.
  • Change Management also forms a key part of the project managers role at Bank ABC which means working with our Business and Operations colleagues to ensure new solutions are adopted and deliver value for our clients by ensuring fit for purpose training communications and client onboarding plans are in place and supporting frontline/middle office colleagues with change management plans and change control

The project manager will form part of the wider Strategy and Transformation team based in London and just be a team player with ability to support wider team objectives and projects if required as part of the collective team approach.

What You Will Be Doing:

Managing Projects

  • Understanding and applying the selected project management methodology with reference to the Group Project Management Standard including production and maintenance of relevant project artefacts.
  • Applying the relevant level of project governance and control with regular reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage key programme deliverables through design build test and implementation phases as well as assisting with embedding the resultant changes to our operating model.

Risk Management:

  • Report promptly to line manager any perceived risks or failure of existing controls.
  • Actively identifying and managing issues and risks and escalation as appropriate


Candidate Specification:

  • Understanding of UK and Ideally European Payments and Cash Management landscape including regulatory requirements is essential.
  • Project Management & Change Management including planning delivery and risk/issue management.
  • Knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Good understanding of banking operations particularly for trade finance products.
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint Excel and Word are essential.
  • Previous experience in Financial Services is essential (5 years) ideally with a Corporate/Wholesale banking experience but other financial institutions will be considered.
  • Experience of working on digital transformation projects and in particular payments and cash management solutions is required
  • Experience of working on relevant projects with UK and international scope (EU) would be highly advantageous
  • ABCIB is particularly active in Trade Finance and Receivables Commercial Real Estate Lending and Financial Markets. An understanding of these product/s would be helpful but familiarization training will be provided.
